The innovative known German start-up, Zalando, has recently begun testing new delivery options, including partnering with a bicycle delivery service in Berlin, one of which will involve the option of preselecting a 60 min delivery window.
Customers in the Berlin districts of Prenzlauer Berg and Friedrichshain are currently able to decide up to ten days in advance when they want to get their package delivered within a 60-minute time window.
The pilot project, which is scheduled to run until the end of October, will initially only cover specific postal code areas of two Berlin suburbs. Zalando has partnered with the Hoard courier service for delivery by bike in Berlin.
“The new pilot option is one of a series of innovative services along the “last mile” to make online shopping even easier and more comfortable,” Zalando said.
The company also recently introduced Zalando Zet, a premium programme that is similar to Amazon Prime. Members pay a monthly fee to receive certain services. Part of this offering is the option to receive deliveries faster and, in some cases, on the same day.
